Aunt Pitty Patty's Piggy by Aylesworth.
I used to call out the part and point to a student to stand up then every time that character was named, they were to stand. I
never gave oral directions, they all got it quickly or I waited for them to figure it out. I would just point at someone and then make a hand motion to
sit down. I did it with other books too and sometimes had them all come and line up in front. I also kept a basket of animal beanie babies. When I read
books with animals, I would toss the toys to students to stand up and hold when that animal was mentioned. They are VERY quiet and well behaved that
way, hoping to hold a toy. And then there's There Was an Old Woman Who Swallowed a Fly (or a pie or whichever version you have)....
Cha-Cha Chimps
We did a conga line from the story corner to the picture books.
Click, Clack, Moo
I like to do a choral reading to Click, Clack, Moo. I assign some kids to be the typewriter, some to be the cows, etc. The kids have a
great time with it.
Mabela the Clever
I taught them the march in the story while they were at their seats and then we marched to the story rug. This week they still wanted to do it.
